1 – Design the Money

Before you get your printer ink going to work on your play money, you need to have an image to print. You can download templates for money on the internet, and then all you have to do is adjust the amounts on the money and the images on it. You can also design your own money if you have some creative skills on the computer. Figure out what size you want the money, and then put a border around that area on a page. Add an oval in the middle with a face for the money, and put numbers and information all over the bills based on what you need them to look like. Repeat this image throughout the page so you have something to print.

2 – Load the Printer

Make sure your toner cartridges are still somewhat full on your computer, and then load it with the paper you want the money to go on. You can get colored printer paper to put the money on, or you could use standard white paper. It just depends on what you want your money to look like.

3 – Print the Money

Print the money out on your paper, and then flip the paper to reload if you plan on putting an image on the other side of it. Make sure that you load it the direction that will make the money come out right, and also make sure the images you print on the back line u correctly with the images on the front. Then you will have pages of money to cut out.

4 – Cut out the Money

To cut out your bills, you can use a pair of scissors or a paper cutter. The paper cutter will give you straight lines at all times, and it will cut through multiple pages at once. That is your best bet if you want to save time and get good results. With all of your bills cut out, all you have left to do is use them.

Coloring Pages

Printing your own coloring pages doesn’t take much more than a few drops of printer ink and some time on the computer. You can print pages from some sites online, or you can create your own with some image editing software. You could put some simple shapes on a page and print them out, or you could put words one the page with blank spaces in the middle. Feel free to make this a learning opportunity as well as a craft project. You won’t spend much on paper to get the job done.

Mosaic Tiles

You might think that working with mosaic tiles would be incredibly expensive, but it really isn’t if you know what to buy. Many home improvement stores will throw away tile that gets broken in their stores, or they will sell them at really low prices just to get rid of them. You could call around local suppliers to see if any of them have some leftover tiles you can use. Then you could print off images to fill in with broken tile so you have a rough idea of how to create the mosaic. Then all you will be spending money on is the item you are doing the tile work on, the mortar for the tile, and the toner for your printer. You can get small vases for next to nothing to tile, and the mortar won’t be expensive either.

Noodle Necklaces

Who doesn’t like a good noodle necklace to wear to a fancy event? Okay, maybe noodle jewelry is more suited for dress up time, but it can still be fun and cheap to make. You can buy a huge set of noodles for less than $2 at a local food store, and then all you need is some string to put the noodles on. You can use paper to make charms for the necklace, or you can paint the noodles to make them look different. Whatever you decide to do, you can feel happy knowing you aren’t spending a lot of money doing it.
